Mission:

To empower survivors of domestic abuse to live violence free and break the cycle of abuse.
To connect survivors of domestic abuse to resources that are available for the improvement of their quality of life.

Our History:

The Founder of House of Helping Hands is a domestic violence survivor. She had a painful journey before she was free. She was
stuck because she did not have the money to survive on her own.

Just about every person in an abusive relationship has become dependent on the abuser. It’s a tactic they use to control you. Once they have you totally dependent on them, they can treat you anyway they want to and they know that you will allow their awful behavior because you can’t leave. They isolate you from friends and family so you won’t have someone rescue you.

Started in January 2020 by a team of dedicated volunteers to provide significant impact to the community. When everyone was sheltered in place on March 2020, the influx of calls for help paved way for the creation of various programs to assist our beneficiaries. With the help of our community partners, we were able to weather the storm and support survivors of domestic abuse to live a violence free life.

Evidence suggests that alcohol use increases the occurrence and severity of domestic violence. Relevant alcohol effects include a reduction in cognitive and physical functions that impair self-control, with the consequent effect of reducing the ability to resolve conflicts.

Further, we have identified that 40% of Families cannot afford basic commodities as a result of the abuse. They have been so dependent on their abuser that getting real-time help is next to impossible.

As we evolve alongside our beneficiaries and community partners, we will never lose sight of empowering our survivors to break the cycle of abuse and to connect them with resources they need to improve their economic condition.

Who hasn't needed a helping hand, won't you offer yours?
